Application Engineer Medical * (m/w/d)

About us

As an Application Engineer in SCHOTT’s Medical Business, you serve as the technical expert for selected OEM products and medical applications. You collaborate closely with customers, Sales, Product Management, R&D, and Quality to translate technical requirements into product solutions and drive the success of our Medical portfolio. This position combines technical depth, customer interaction, and cross functional collaboration in a regulated and innovation driven environment.

Your Contribution

• You serve as the primary technical contact for customers and internal commercial teams regarding OEM products and medical applications.
• You evaluate customer inquiries for technical feasibility and develop suitable technical solution concepts, including effort estimates for quotations.
• You own and negotiate technical product specifications and coordinate all related change control processes.
• You lead or support customer driven technical projects—from prototyping to design refinement and validation activities.
• You conduct competitive and technology benchmarking to derive recommendations for the Medical portfolio.
• You prepare and maintain technical documentation for communication, marketing, regulatory, and training purposes.
• You support Quality processes, including complaint handling, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement measures.

Your Profile

• You hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.
• You bring experience in technical customer support, application engineering, product development, or OEM project environments—ideally within the medical or another regulated industry.
• You have a solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and system level application requirements (e.g., optics, mechanics, sensors).
• You communicate clearly and confidently and can explain complex technical matters to diverse stakeholders.
• You work in a structured, solution oriented manner and take full ownership of your tasks.
• You collaborate effectively across functions and manage multiple technical interfaces.
• You are fluent in English and German.
