I will drive the deployment of state-of-the-art IT solutions and create synergies between two application landscapes within the European Elia. Group.

Why is this role interesting for me? As an IT Solution Architect (f/m/d), you will design and implement cutting-edge IT solutions that enhance efficiency and sustainability across our operations. You’ll play a key role in major transformation projects and help create synergies between two large-scale European IT landscapes. Your work will directly contribute to the digital backbone of the energy transition in Germany and Europe.

My responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to major transformation projects by integrating new IT solutions into existing application landscapes,
• Analyze business requirements and propose innovative, future-proof IT technologies and solutions,
• Design end-to-end solution architectures in alignment with the Elia Group’s IT strategy and standards,
• Ensure high-quality implementation through best practices and architectural governance,
• Collaborate on the definition of the IT roadmap and drive synergy initiatives to simplify and harmonize the IT landscape across the Group,
• Coordinate with other IT stakeholders, including the internal software factory, infrastructure teams, and business units,
• Take ownership of integration aspects during new application rollouts and act as a subject-matter expert in relevant architecture and steering committees.

My profile

• Academic degree in the field of IT,
• Several years of relevant experience in a comparable role as Solution Architect, Business Architect,
• Expertise regarding the integration of new solutions into existing systems,
• Relevant experience in designing complex IT systems with broader experience in application architecture designing at functional level,
• Profound Knowledge of GIS, digital & mobile workforce technology and modern development like DevOps or Cloud platforms,
• Autonomous, proactive, and agile working style and attitude,
• Language skills: English (C1), German (min. B2).

Bonus qualifications

• Experience in software development, integration design patterns, and custom application design,
• Industry knowledge in energy, electricity, or utilities is highly valued.

As one of the four transmission grid operators in Germany, 50Hertz is responsible for high-voltage power transmission; control at this level is decisive for the stability of the grid and to ensure a secure electricity supply in Germany and Europe. We are part of a European grid association, working closely with colleagues throughout Europe. 50Hertz is part of a European company, working alongside Belgian grid operator Elia in the Elia Group. We work together closely in many key areas. Individual activities such as IT or purchasing are organised at the group level, which means that in these areas colleagues from Elia and 50Hertz work in a team from both Berlin and Brussels.
